The final installers for The Master Genealogisy™ software can be found hereBob Velke, owner of Wholly Genes, Inc., has kindly granted the Roots Users Group of Arlington (RUG) an exclusive license to host and distribute The Master Genealogist™ (TMG) Tutorial Videos on our website. Wholly Genes, Inc.'s copyright in these videos remains fully intact.
RUG is honored to host these videos and make them freely available to our members and the public. The download links are available in the Chapter by Chapter Index below.

Remember, these videos were created 20 years ago when Version 5 of TMG was the current version. While he basics are still covered, they do not cover changes or improvements that have been added to TMG 6 through TMG 9.05. In addition, these videos were converted from VHS tapes and/or DVDs so while the videos display is OK; they are not HD quality. The resolution is about 720 X 576, so you may find that the text in some of the screen shots is difficult to read.

The Master Genealogist™ Install Downloads
RUG has collected insallers for several of the TMG versions over the years. To download one of these files, simply click on it and the dowload process will start. Typically this will be to your Downloads folder.or alternately you could also right-click on the link and then in the sub-menu that appears, select "Save Link As...", then you. will be prompted for a location where you can save the file.
Note that since these files are not commonly downloaded, after you have clidked on the file you want, you will need to go through a few steps to get access to the file you choose. Follow the directions below using the steps shown in the screen shots.
- First you will get a warning that it isn't commonly downloaded. Next to that message, you will see three does highlighted below in the screenshot. (Note that the name of the file shown depends on which file you downloaded and if you downloaded it more than once.)
- Click Keep
- A Downloads form will pop up with another warning. Click the dropdown arrow to the right of the Delete button.
- Click Keep Anyway. This will put the file in the folder on your PC that you choose above.
After you have downloaded the appropriate .exe file(s), locate it
and then double-click on the filename. It should then begin the installation
process for that version of TMG (and/or its update).
In most cases, after you've installed the program, click on the desktop icon to
execute it. You will most likely need to enter the serial number — in an email message
sent to you from Wholly Genes — when you first got the program. That email
also contains your first and last name and the email address; these three pieces of
information along with your serial number should get your started.
Note that these will install the 30-day trial version. To go beyond that time period, you must already have your own serial number. You MAY purchase a full license for TMGv9 from Harry Goegebeur of Belgium but as of July 2026 he only had a few left to sell.
Keep in mind that the Wholly Genes TMG operation closed at the end of 2014 and support is no longer available from Wholly Genes Software. You can get help from other users on this message board and on the TMG-L mail list. If you lose your registration information, you can write support@whollygenes.com. You should receive a response but please be patient in case it takes a while.
TMG v9.05

The UK Gold version is TMGv9GoldUK-tmg905uksetup.exe. It can be downloaded from the Wholly Genes website at http://www.whollygenes.com/files/tmg9uksetup.exe.
Neither of these TMG v9.05 installers requires any additional programs.

TMG v8.08
The Gold version 8 is TMGv8Gold-tmg808setup.exe. It can be downloaded from the Wholly Genes website at http://www.whollygenes.com/files/tmg8setup.exe.
The UK version 8 is TMGv8Gold-tmg808uksetup.exe. It can be downloaded from the Wholly Genes website at http://www.whollygenes.com/files/tmg8uksetup.exe.
Neither of these TMG v8.08 installers requires any additional programs.
TMG v7.04
The version 7 setup program is TMGv7-tmg7setup.exe. It can be downloaded from the Wholly Genes website at http://www.whollygenes.com/files/tmg7setup.exe. Since there were several updates, you must also download the last update and execute the v7.04 update installer, which is TMGv7-tmg7xx704update.exe.
The UK version 7 setup program is TMGv7-tmg7uksetup.exe. It can be downloaded from the Wholly Genes website at http://www.whollygenes.com/files/tmg7uksetup.exe. .
